Tips for Intestinal Health

Colon Cleanse

A recent visit to DrDavidWilliams.com revealed a good article on intestinal health. He talks about the benefits of maintaining proper bacterial balance in the intestines. In fact, he discusses 7 tips for doing just that, saying that increasing intestinal flora in the GI tract is indeed one of the very best things you will do to improve intestinal and health.

Here are the 7 tips Dr. David Williams outlines at his website:

  1. Reduce the amount of antibiotics used
  2. Reduce the use of unnecessary drugs
  3. Avoid foods with sulfur based preservatives
  4. Maintain a diet rich in fermented milk products
  5. Eat large servings of oatmeal once a week or more
  6. Make sauerkraut a normal staple in your diet
  7. Consider using probiotic supplements

Colon Cleansing and beyond

Ok, so you've done a colon cleansing and now you are good to go, right?  Well, not so fast - just because you have detoxed your intestinal track does not suggest it is now time to go out and wine and dine yourself for the next six months until the next time you do another colon cleanse.

While an intestinal detox can be a great way to rid yours body of things like intestinal parasites and built up plaque, the real and lasting benefits come from a proper diet.  For example, a recent article in the Seattle PI News talks about the advantages of a raw food diet, and the health benefits associated with this recently popular new way of eating.

Raw foods have the huge advantage of providing the body with beneficial and essential enzymes. when food is heated, many of these essential enzymes are destroyed. The body is then forced to produce more enzymes to compensate. Also, as we age we produce less of these key enzymes.

One quote from the Seattle article sums it up - "Raw foodists say they feel better and healthier than ever, and that chronic sickness often disappears".

Good health can be easy to maintain, just make it a way of life!
